Humanity, Fraternity, and Dedication

On the eve of the third anniversary of the May 12, 2008 Wenchuan Earthquake, Haosi International accepted a commission from the Red Cross Society of China to plan a commemorative documentary and photo exhibition of the earthquake disaster-relief efforts.

Haosi International immediately established a special team of photographers, videographers, journalists, and technical support staff and went deep into the stricken areas: Du Jiangyan, Wenchuan, Beichuan, Mianyang, Deyang, Mianzhu, and neighbouring disaster areas. In all, the Haosi International documentary taskforce shot almost five-hundred minutes of video and over two-thousand photographs.

The exhibition was entitled Red Cross Power, and graphically presented the results of the Red Cross of China’s monumental relief efforts in six discrete venues: 1.relief operations during the earthquake; 2.post-quake reconstruction which targeted housing and schools; 3.post-quake software-based reconstruction programs for healthcare facilities, housing, and schools; 4.Red Cross Society of China reconstruction results in Gansu and Shaanxi Provinces; 5. a three-year overview in Sichuan, Gansu, and Shaanxi Provinces of the combined reconstruction efforts of the Hong Kong Red Cross, Macao Red Cross, Taiwan Red Cross Organization, and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies; 6.a nine-minute disaster relief and post-disaster reconstruction documentary film.

The documentary film both shocked and impressed the more than two-hundred domestic and international officials, dignitaries, and media personnel attending The Red Cross Society of China’s Wenchuan Earthquake Third Anniversary Recovery Report. The report meeting and documentary exhibition was held in Chengdu, on May 5, 2011.
